AP exams vs. Placement test at college

i know that even if you do really well on AP language exams like spanish, you still have to take the placement test in order to fulfill the credits.
Then, if i had the choice of being able to take it or not, should i just not take the AP spanish language exam?
I have studied spanish for 6 years, and i heard that the placement tests are so much easier than the AP exams themselves.

I live in a country where AP spanish exams are not commonly offered... and if i have to take it I would have to drive REALLY REALLY far, and i do not see that as a necessity.
Is it true that even if i just don't take the ap exam, i can still test out from college spanish courses?

yes, you can test out when you go to the college. IF its inconvient, dont do it.
