I'm currently the only student in my Spanish IV class that's preparing for the AP exam. My teacher recently told me that the AP test might not be the best option, since I can most likely earn more credit through a placement exam at whatever university I end up at in the fall.
Does anyone know how this works? I'm just wondering whether it's worth it to work so hard at getting a 4 or 5 on the AP exam, and only get like 4 hours of credit, when I could possibly get more through the placement exam.

Do both.

My university lets you pass out of Spanish levels, but you don’t get college credit hours for them.

With AP, you actually get college hours (depending on your AP score and university).

The AP Spanish test is very, very hard. Preparing for that will help you take your university placement exam later on. Try AP Spanish Exam in order to get actual college course hours, then take university placement exam to place out of levels (no credit, just skipping levels). The AP Spanish exam is only about $89ish.
