AP French Teacher is Terrible

Bonjour!

So I am about to take AP French next year, and while I’m not nervous about the class, I am terrified of the AP exam. My teacher does very little immersion, is very lenient, and doesn’t teach at all. I’ve been talking with a few native speakers, and one native speaker last year got a 4 because my teacher never told her the format (I’ve heard knowing that is important as well).

I can read and write fairly well, but I still am heavily dependent on a dictionary because I don’t trust myself. However, others have said my accent makes me sound very advanced (trust me, I only know how to pronounce stuff, not carry a conversation). My parents have agreed to pay for some extra learning tool outside of class, but I have no idea what to use. Any suggestions? They don’t have to cost anything, but that won’t be an issue if it does.

I don’t take French, but I use Duolingo for German. There are also lots of apps where you can chat with a native speaker, if you’re okay with talking to “strangers” Look up Tandem, it’s great. While those won’t help you with the exam format, it’ll help with “immersion”. Best of luck! I have the same problem with my German teacher. :expressionless:
