I read that AP FRQ booklets can be ordered for $7 and that one gets the original booklet (without any corrections, etc)

few questions with regards to this

1)Do we get the ORIGINALS back? If yes, how and on what are each of the FRQ papers corrected? Is it scanned and then the scanned versions are manually corrected by the FRQ readers and hence there are no markings or comments on the original booklets?

2)What is the use of this - does it help during rescoring? Since I read that FRQ section is not reread during rescoring and only MC..

3) Also I read that we get the inserts back in 48 hours? How does it work.. So, from our entire submitted set, are the inserts taken out and given back to us?

Thanks for clarifying.

1) I’m pretty sure they are the originals. I’m not sure what you’re talking about in regards to the corrections by the readers. They don’t make corrections, notes, etc. on anything. They just read.

2) You just answered your own question. It has nothing to do with rescoring since the FRQs aren’t reread for rescoring. Some people just like to have their booklets back for whatever reason. There’s no defined benefit to getting it back. It’s just an option so CB can get even more of your money.

3) The green inserts (blue in some cases) aren’t sent back to the CB as far as I’m aware. Your guidance office keeps them until 48 hours have passed, then returns them to the teachers who can then look to see if you did any pre-planning and give them back to you.

I’ve never gotten my green inserts back before, so I don’t know what’s up with that.

Your teacher gets them. Some of them give them back, some don’t.

i got my green inserts back

Everyone in my English class got our PINK booklets from English LAST year back, so I’m not sure what’s up with that… it seems like CB charging people to get these booklets back may be a scam.

^ What? You got the booklets that you actually wrote your entire essays in? The ones read by the AP readers, with your AP # label and your signature and all?

^Yeah, you can buy them back yourself for $7 each. Some schools actually buy them back for the students, so that could be what occurred.

Yeah I knew you could buy them back, but I didn’t know some schools buy them for the students. That’s why I was a little surprised that he/she got it back.

Imagine how much money CB makes by a) charging $8 for the early phone call for scores and b) $7 for the booklet. I never thought I’d become impatient but I succumbed to this dumb thing and called CB for my scores last year -_____-

So did I (it was my first year taking APs), because I was really anxious. In addition to two week-long programs and possibly a job this summer, I think I’ll have other things to occupy my time, so I’ll try and help myself from calling lol.

Ya, maybe my school bought them back, but I don’t think that was the case, considering we are facing major budget cuts next year and I don’t think they would waste money on something like this.

Yeah, this year I’m planning on calling to get my scores because I don’t want to wait that long! Last year, my scores got here later than expected, and I just want to know!

I don’t understand the anxiousness for AP scores… they just get you college credit; it’s not like they decide what universities you can go to or how much scholarship money you can get like the ACT or SAT…

When you work hard for something, it’s common to really want to know how well you did. Some obviously are more concerned than others. I don’t see anything wrong with that.

Almost all the UK universities use the AP scores results for the admission decision. So, it is more important for UK admissions as that is the main criteria for those who do not take IB or A levels and are applying to UK.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with it, I myself work hard on these tests and like to do well. I just find it interesting how so many people like to freak out about these things.

^UK uses APs for college admission? Interesting. Are they used to show aptitude in specific areas of study like SAT IIs?

Though many people do actually freak out about this kinda stuff, I don’t think calling in to get your scores is considered “freaking out.” The people who spend their summer days on CC asking about when they’ll get their scores every ten minutes… now that’s another story.

Can I send in a request even before they have graded them? (I know it sounds stupid but would it be processed sooner?)

^Sure; I don’t see why not. They’ll just keep it on file and get it to you when they’re ready.
