Does anyone know of any good prep books for AP German? There aren't many threads about this.

Bump .

No, there aren't. I would like to know as well.

There aren't any threads about this because there aren't (m)any books about this.
I have, in my possession (well actually, had, because I gave it away to a rising senior) the only AP German prep book that I know of. And it was a waste of money anyway. It was like, literally homemade and was just photocopies of a bunch of practice tests and had no helpful information and no review or anything.
That said, the best review material will come from your teacher.
And the most important thing I can suggest for you is to PRACTICE SPEAKING. just do it...stop fretting about it and just speak
and good luck, and if you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

agreed, there is no substitute for actually taking a class heavy on writing, reading, and speaking, especially speaking. i don't think any prep book would make much of a difference if you could even find one.

AP German won't have very many materials (I remember searching for it on Amazon), because it's one of the most uncommon APs: only about 5,000 students took it last year. Compare that with the 300k+ who took APUSH, 130k+ who took biology, 250k+ who took AP English L&C, and 280k+ who took AP lit.

What do you need to know? are you beginning at German? If so, I learned German on my own (actually, I went to Germany by myself and lived with a German family, so that helped). But, I got this book called "German In Review"

If you have some understanding of general grammar, you will be able to learn it easily.

If you already know grammar, structure, basic vocab, etc. you should try to get your hands on some german books, tv shows, movies. Ask the German teacher at your school.

I found the best thing when I was in Germany;

Translated DONALD DUCK comic books! The translations are very good because they are popular there! They helped me so much with building VOCAB and learning Idioms. My German increased 10x from reading those comics. They are pretty good too! Anyway, I don't know how you can get them here... But, the company that makes them is called "Lustiges Taschenbuch" If you can ask your German teacher to try to hook you up, that would be cool. Or, just go to Germany and stop in at the magazine store in the Train station and buy a bunch of them!

I just borrowed teh book we used for german 3 and 4 before the exam to go back over the grammar, but that's cause we didn't do much with grammar in my ap class

I used a book called Schaum's Outlines for college German grammar review... it worked pretty well. I speak fluently already, though, so I don't know if this is your situation. My written grammar sucks, and the Schaum's Outline book helped.

Sorry I have to say this, but it's PREPARATION ;) For crying out loud, the name of this forum is AP TESTS PREPARATION... ha sorry I just felt like being a jerk for like 2 seconds, my bad. :P

What? Your logic is unclear.

Yeah... I immediately realized that it's preparation when I looked back at this... and felt pretty stupid... lol

Thanks for the replies.
