How does my AP score translate into a grade on my college transcript? I've been trying to figure it out but I can't find anything concrete. Is it just like 5 = A, 4 = B, etc.?

NO GRADES. You simply get credit with no grades applied. It does not help or hurt your GPA, as it has no affect on your GPA.

Has anyone seen AP credits on their transcripts yet?

It shows up as ‘S’ on your transcript.

They usually do not show up until over the summer, after final high school transcripts are received.

Awesome! Thanks Sunny!

yeah, you probably won’t see it at least until registration (thats when mine were up) but it just counts as an S, so you get credit for the class but not a grade, just like how if you got above a certain score on the SAT you don’t have to take ENC1101, you don’t get a grade but you get credit.

It was kind of nice to be able to laugh at the people who got 5s and bragged about how much it would help in college grades, and it doesn’t even count. So my 3 is just as good. Lol

It helps your grade indirectly. It allows you to either graduate earlier, take less classes per semester (which should result in better grades), or take electives which interest you more. There’s a definite benefit to walking in with a ton of AP Credits.

That said, the English classes are easy A’s, so I’m glad I did not receive any English credits.

I don’t think anyone really thinks that it helps your college grades… A 5 is actually better than a 3, just not grade-wise.

Oh and if you want to see what it looks like, go onto the blackboard and look at your unofficial transcript. It only shows the credits you earned for SAT/ACT so far, but the “ED” for “Department Exam Credit” should be the same for IB/AP exam credits.

A 5 is not necessarily “better” than a 3 in terms of credit for certain classes (i.e. AP Calculus AB, in which a score of 3 awards the same credit as a score of 5).

what i was trying to say was, 5 or 3 you still only get the credit for it. So someone could brag about getting a 5, but I got a 3 and still got credit, they got nothing more than I did.

Well that’s only for certain courses. For others, even a 4 will get you 3 more credits.
