AP Human Geography: No regrets?

I am currently a junior in high school. Because of various scheduling problems, I had to shift around my schedule and swap a few things out. In the end, I made the decision to take APHUG and have found it to be very interesting. However, a lot of people have mentioned how it was sort of a joke class that is looked down upon by colleges. If you have taken it (or maybe if you are currently taking it), what are some benefits of taking the course (so I don’t feel so bad about taking the class)?

It is definitely not a joke class! It is as hard and as important as any other AP. Especially if you are taking it as a freshman! (I am!!)

Take it. I took it as a freshman last year and it was amazing. Don’t make everything about what looks good to colleges and what doesn’t, just have fun and enjoy your high school time. You can still get college credit at some colleges, and it looks good regardless.

Can I ask where you heard that? It definitely is not a joke in my opinion, I’m taking it right now and it’s not exactly an easy A. Also why would colleges look down on it? I’m honestly not trying to be rude, sorry if i come off that way, just curious.

@shavy621Just from various peers and others on CC. I personally think I could get a lot out of the class, but a lot of what I encountered from others wasn’t all too positive.

I LOVED the course, and I have never had an AO or college counselor I’ve spoken to look down on it. It provides you with a lot of interesting, real-world knowledge.
