AP human geography...who's ready ?

i just started my barron's !! ahhh

I went to buy Barron's today but they ran out so I'm going to a different store tomorrow. So last minute, but I'm hoping I get a 5.

We took 2006's test in class and I pretty much failed the MC but did really good with FRQ so I ended up with a 5 in the end so the curve is pretty easy I guess although it's one of the lowest scoring AP's.

Anyway, good luck :D Shouldn't be too hard to finish by Friday.

haha. the first two chapters of barron's = hell. i really can't read maps. i thought this AP wouldn't be difficult because i already have extensive knowledge on politics, economics, population, and even agriculture from taking sociology, envisci, comp govt, etc but the maps will kill me.

Eek. So I take it that you're self-studying and haven't taken a Human Geography class?

I think I'm fairly good with maps now but we didn't cover the different types of projections in class so I'm hoping to get that from Barron's.

You'll do fine with knowledge from all those areas. There usually aren't many questions on maps on the MC section but some FRQ's require analyzing maps and things of that sort but you're studying that anyway.

I am, but I'm taking the class. :D

I'm mainly using Kaplan to review. It's nice.

I only need a 3.. haven't started studying yet, but I'm taking it next week.

^^

Guess you only need a 3 because that is the minimum for Carolina, eh? ;)

I haven't the faintest idea why Carolina sets the standard so low for that exam for credit. Everything else is practically a 4 or 5 to get credit/exemption.

Good luck! I got a 1 my freshman year :*

im just going over the definitions..and i suck on the free response.

Yep anarchist, 3 is all you need for credit :D

^^

Yeah, it's pretty awesome. I know I will get a 3 or higher, but if I end up at Carolina (you will probably see UNC '13 next spring on my location thingy here), I will most likely take Cultural Geography at UNC because I may major in geography.

PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION, WHAT IS THE CURVE ON THIS EXAM!!!!! lol

Please..........

Guys, come one. This test is nearly common sense/current events. Every practice FR I've done in class can be answered using common knowledge. The only reason why the average is so low is because a lot of underclassmen take the exam and don't know how to write. I'm not worried.

Plus, if you've taken World History, Government, Econ, or Sociology, you're set to pass in my opinion.

My goodness, do not stress out about the AP Geo exam. I took the exam as a junior without taking the class (I just read one of the review guides, either Barrons or Princeton Review) and ended up getting a 5. It is an incredibly easy AP exam, don't sweat it. I mean this in all seriousness, my college won't even accept my 5 for AP Geography.

Yeah, a ton of freshmen take the exam, and a lot of them just don't care/don't try. So they get 1's.

It's pretty easy to get a 5.

whats the curve though?

I only know that generally 70 and above is a 5. I don't really know for the other scores, sorry.

Testing in approximately 15 hours. Good luck to everyone.

Will Barrons only be good enough for a 5?

The curve is ridiculously easy so I'm pretty sure that Barron's will be good enough as long as you've really studied it.
