Is an AP International Diploma basically the same thing as the International Baccalaureate Diploma? Which is more highly honored?

I’d guess the IB diploma, because it requires the EE and TOK and whatnot. Plus, all of the curricula fit really well together between each class.

Definitely IB.

Both have their pros and cons, and you can’t definitively say IB is better than AP. I’ll agree with you that in terms of educational value, IB trumps the AP system, but taking APs means you’ll likely get to skip far more introductory level college courses than an IB kid. Also, APID means you’ve had to have taken at least 5 different AP courses in almost every subject available– something that looks good on a college app. But if you’re entering high school and choosing between IB and AP, I’d personally say go with IB!

^It is a question of the value of IB diploma vs AP International Diploma.

You can take lot more AP classes for college credit vs only 6 in IB.

Value in what sense? In admissions sense? There is no difference. There is no APID program, it’s something you have to work (pretty hard) to achieve. But they obviously show no preference to one another and both have pros and cons that adcoms know of.
