On both the January and March SATs I bombed my CR sections (680 and 640, respectively).
I'm deciding between retaking in June and October. I know that October gives ample time but just one more annoying thing to worry about especially with Ed considerations. June maybe rushed with ap exams but isn't as 'this is it'.

But assuming I do some hardcore review for my lang ap, will I be preparing myself for cr as well?

I’m also in a very similar predicament. I can’t give solid stats on the correlation but since AP is basically super hard CR I feel like it would probably lead to a nice increase in CR scores.

Hi, just came here to say that a 680 in CR doesn’t mean you bombed the section.

That is all, goodbye.

^It does when you’re consistently scoring high 700s on practice tests.

Amen. I was scoring low 700s with vocab issues; memorized all of DH, Essential 300, and PR Hit Parade to get consistent 730s-750s. Confident the passages got me, which is why I’m home AP English Lang. prep will prep me again for SAT CR.

Any other opinions? AP Lang. and CR? Work on the former, help the latter?

Well, my ap lang teacher claims that there’s little correlation. To an extent, the SAT CR prep will help your AP lang prep. For me, I’ve definitely noticed some correlation between my SAT CR (consistently 700+ and recent 800 on the March SAT) and AP lang MC scores (80%+ raw score). I haven’t exactly “studied” for these, but just practiced SAT CR like there was no tomorrow. I will not be practicing for AP lang though because the passages are hard to understand, especially since they come from a variety of time periods.

It’s seems that I was rambling so here’s the point:
The difference b/w the two: AP Lang has harder passages and questions. WAYYY harder. AP lang tests your knowledge of literary terms (allusion, anaphora, that stuff). AP lang does not require perfection or near-perfection on MC for the highest score.
