AP Language and Composition APMC Help!!!!

I am a good essay writer, I just got 2nd best essay out of my whole class. I have no problem writing, it’s just the stupid MCs that KILL my grade. I barely got a B last semester BECAUSE OF MCs. I just got a really bad score on my APMC (19/38). The AP Exam is coming up really soon and i need some tips, tricks, study ideas. I’m willing to do anything.

I like to read a lot, one of my passions. Will it help if I read dry boring passages online just like the ones they give on the MCs.

How do I improve my score? Is anyone else struggling with this or is it just me? :frowning: Thank you for responding!

Trust me, it isn’t just you. The MCs are killers for me as well. I’d say practice the MC by doing Critical Reading sections of the SAT, as well as trying to memorize those rhetorical strategies. Also, don’t just read for the exam lol, simply reading the passages wont help you. You need to understand the author’s underlying messages within the passage.

Try and find released MC from CollegeBoard; as the saying goes, practice makes perfect.

Practice, practice, practice. Last year in the first semester, I didn’t do great with MC questions, but after a lot of practice, I was getting 90-95% right by the time the AP exam rolled around.

It’s definitely not just you. I have the same exact problem. MCs kill my score! Some people are just naturally good at them, but for those of us who aren’t, I suggest just practice them a TON. I’m planning on looking through old AP tests and just finding a pattern and repetition to everything (that’s how I usually study). Good luck on the AP exam!

I just retook the exam from the start (for fun). I realized that if I just relaxed and read for the big idea of the passage, I got the questions right! Maybe I have to relax? Slow it down? I will definitely practice MCs if it improves my grade!

MC’s are my problem too. Score sevens and eights on the essays but do very poorly on MC.
