AP Language Question

Hey guys, I'm in Japanese 3 right now as a sophomore, and my teacher said that I could skip level 4 and go straight to AP japanese junior year. I've been taking Japanese since 8th grade.

She only mentioned this to 2 people in my class including me. I'm fairly confident that I could do well in AP Japanese and on the AP test.

Is it worth it to skip a year and go straight to AP Japanese?
More importantly, would it be a benefit on college applications as colleges would see that I skipped a year of Japanese? Or is the only benefit of going straight to AP Japanese is that I can get an open elective slot senior year?

Thanks for reading, I just wanted to know if I should just take Japanese 4 to be safe, or take AP Japanese right away for college benefit.

Honestly, if there is nothing else you want to take in place of Japanese that last year, then staying in Japanese 4 might boost your GPA. I ended up taking an extra year myself and since I earned such high grades, I went up by about 2% in my class standing and qualify for extra scholarship.

What would you do with the extra elective slot senior year if you skipped?

If you are confident in doing well in the AP course (A grade) and AP test, then there is really no reason not to go directly to the AP course on the teacher’s recommendation.
