how easy it is to self study for this exam? i'm in the class but my teacher is a pile of crap.

Quite easy.

General,
can you be more specific. My son is thinking about indepenent study for both micro and macro ( may 2006). He does not have any previous knowledge on this subject. He is planning to study with barrons.I read so
many threads on this cc forum that it is durable, easy a joke for self-study.Is this true? please anyone out there may i hear your opinion.

Intro to economics is one of the easiest things to learn. Most of it is just common sense. I understand the stuff, but I still disagree with small business servicing for a lower price because they are already at that location. It brings down the price of the market.
Just read barrons and do the practice tests and then go and get 2 5's.

mattd
really? If my son understands the outline in the barrons he can get 5s?He does't need additional information? So AP is actually only an intro, to econ?
Also there only few practice tests (1macro,1micro)in barrons and also in PR. Is this enough for 5s in the exam?
thanks I appreciate your reply

J mom:

The tests cover only very basic economics -- no advanced math or anything. I'm afraid that mattd1688 is right that all you need to do is read the Barron's book to learn all of the information, although economics is definitely worth a more in depth study. Of course, if your son intends to pursue economics in college then doing just this won't cut it.

In any case, I honestly suggest buying a copy of each of the 2000 released exams, available here and here. You have to pay for them, but they're well worth it in terms of the quality and accuracy of the multiple choice questions. You also get some insight into how the AP readers look at the exams. I also highly recommend practicing with the previously released free response questions available here -- they're much more true to form than those in the prep books. Note that you need to create an account at AP Central to view the answers.

you are so kind General Rak!!!!!!!!

thank you for your information. I really appreciate it.

Where can I register to see the answers?

hey i need to find the answers for the 2000 ap macroeconomics exam. can someone help me find them? provide a link please

I didn't think macro was as easy as the others are implying (I thought bio was easier by a long shot)... and I had a textbook, with activities and such provided online, as well as a prepbook.

Also, every AP test tests only basic or "intro" materials. So to say that because it only covers the concepts that would be in an "intro to" course, doesn't mean it's one of the easier APs.

Unless you're very gifted at econ, plan to put in a substantial amount time preparing for the exam.

Can anyone recommend a guide to AP macro? I am looking for a book that is a Guide THROUGH THE COURSE and not to the test too much. I want to focus on doing well in the course before I worry about the ap exam. Most of the macro books are guides to getting a 5 on the test rather than a guideline to the course in addition to my classroom textbook.
Thanks!
