AP Micro vs Macro

My school offers AP Macroeconomics as a year long course, I was wondering whether I should self study Microecon and if I did how difficult it would be?

Not that different. The concept is different that's it. Micro focuses on economy on the smaller scale(personal, corporate) while Macro focuses on a much bigger level(national)..

hmm, what I really want to know is this:

do many of topics/skills required for the Macro overlap into the Micro?
If so, that would be very convienent, because by studying for Macro, I would essentially be covering much of the same material on the Micro, thus i wouldn't have to study as much if I do decided to self the Micro.

So, "do many of topics/skills required for the Macro overlap into the Micro?"

There are some things that overlap. Last year I took both Micro and Macro. The basic underlying theories of supply and demand overlap, but Micro deals more with individual firms and macro the economy as a whole. If you're taking AP Macro then you'll be thinking in terms of economics which will make studying Micro easier.
