AP Music Theory

Any suggestions on text book or prep book?

My class used Tonal Harmony for the nonaural portions of the exam.It goes well above what is required on hte AP Exam but is an excellent source nonetheless. For the singing and aural sections, I would suggest buying a released exam from collegeboard.

Those exams from college board comes with the audio files?

Yes, they do. However, the audio files for all free response questions since 1999 are available free of charge on collegeboard.com.

Which version of Tonal Harmony did you use? Do you also use the workbook?

our school is using The Complete Musician by Steven G. Laitz. We're also using this book at Juilliard Pre-College...it's a very well written book with many examples. However, it does (like basically every theory book) utilize a lot of musical jargon...defined with more musical jargon.

btw there is no music theory prep book. What is your background in music / music theory?
