The rules for the test state we can discuss the questions after they’ve been released
For the last part of first FRQ, I wrote that since I is the amount of charge going through the circuit the one with the highest I will run out of energy first. I realized thats wrong after doing the test (It’s actually the one with the highest power) but since power is just I times V, and V remains constant for all circuits, I still got the right answer. How many points, if any, do you think I’ll get for my answer?
@Batmoose I did not take form O but you will at most lose a point probably for not stating that power is the same in each circuit. I think that this makes circuit 3 run out first and circuit 2 run out last.
Circuit 3 runs out first and circuit 2 runs out last, yes that’s correct.
Power is not the same however… P = IV = E/t and E and V are the same for all circuits, so theres no way you can have the same power for each circuit with the same E and V but different I’s or t’s.
Also current is the rate at which charge flows, not the amount of charge. (I = q/t, where q = amount/number of charge, and t = time) Therefore, the lower the current, the slower the rate, which is why it takes longer for the charge to travel, and so it takes longer for the circuit to use up energy. This is evident with the equation P = E/t or P=IV, but we know since the battery is the same, so we must change the time, and for that the charge should move slower to take longer, and to move slower, you need a lower current. This was my explanation, but i totally forgot about the equations, and used my knowledge of current and the definition much like @Batmoose (i blanked out during frq’s, nerves got the better of me).
I know i missed at least 1 or 2 points for not putting down the equations.
Also I dont think you’re explanation is exactly right since you said current is the amount and not rate. @Batmoose.
I could be wrong in my explanation, however, and AP graders try to be as generous as possible, so you may or may not get credit.
Anyway, what would yall put for 4B?
I think I got 4B and 5 all wrong >.<
There is a lot of controversy in the AP teacher community about 4b because the problem does not state that each track has the same length. 4bii might not be scored.
Wait, if there are two forms, then how come only one of the free response test was posted? Shouldn’t there be two free response posted, one for each form?
Only the form O is posted online and only people who took form O can order their FRQ booklets. If you took another form like E, I, or A, the FRQs are not online and you may never see them again (except for the released exam on the AP course audit next year).
@kimclan1 so how does not scoring work? Will the test be scored out of less points? or will there be a curve/lower cutoff?
also how do you know about 4b being controversial :o ?
and why specifically 4bii?..
lol sorry for so many questions
@kimclan1 what did you mean by order the FRQ booklet? You meant like those in ACT where you can order your answer book?
@annamom you can order FRQ booklets whose FRQs were released online for $10.

@GeometryForLife my guess would be that they probably will still score it and be looking for that track A takes less time but would accept an answer for something like “cannot be determined because the differences in lengths may be nonnegligable”. My teacher who is part of the AP community said there was some controversy.
I know for a fact that I got a 2 on this test
Does anyone know what the curve could be this year? I know that last year it was around a 70 for a five and two years ago it was around a 68. Also, does anyone know if canceling your AP score would penalize someone from the AP awards like National AP scholar, etc. Thanks!
Canceling a score would not penalize you for any awards, as far as I’m aware (except for the fact that now you would have one less AP exam than you would have had if you did not cancel. The deadline for canceling scores or withholding scores for the purposes of colleges is June 15th.
Ap Physics 1 was an amazing class! I did very well in the class and the teacher has a 100% 4/5 rate for the AP exam. I did Physics 1 the first half of the year and Physics 2 the second half. Everyone told me Physics 2 exam was a lot harder so I got cocky and didn’t study at all for the Physics 1 exam (I also had the Compsci exam that day so I put my focus there) - big mistake! It’s insane how much you forget and how some simple one hour review can be the difference between a 2-3 and a 5. Even though I got an A in the class, I’m expecting a 3 (4 if I’m really lucky) because I didn’t only not study but had caffeine withdrawal during the test (bad bad headache). Rotational anything is the biggest struggle for Physics 1, so I recommend spending some time on that and make sure you really understand it when it shows up in class because it’s such a big part of the test.
I had some questions about scores. Do you think I can take the test again next year? I feel like I could get a five easily with some review. Is taking the test again even possible? Thank you so much!
@tothefifthpower AP Physics was a struggle for me, haha. I was not really interested in that class (I was forced to take it because my school is small, therefore, creating a schedule conflict). I still wanted at least a 4 and studied for like 2 weeks… and boy, was that test brutal. I guessed on 99% of the multiple choice. The FRQs were easier but still challenging. Not to mention, my teacher completely skipped rotational motion and about 1/3 of the whole exam was on rotational motion.
Anyways to answer your question, yeah you can take the AP exam as many times as you want; there’s no limit. Of course, waiting a whole year to take it without touching on the subject in class would be challenging. But if you’re that confident, I would say take it.
@LazyRay I totally agree with you AP Physics was a total struggle and the content did not interest me in the slightest. I was also forced to take it to graduate with honors next year. I’m confident I got a 2 because I didn’t even know what half of the MC was even asking! I practically guessed on every question. The FR was worse cause it was over most of the topics I struggled with. Hopefully we’ll get a 3 on this, we wouldn’t want our hard work to go to waste!
I am hoping for a 4 or 5. I had an amazing teacher who I will be able to get next year as well for AP Physics 2.
I got a 5. All of my hard work has paid off!
Got a 5 as well. My 2 weeks of hardcore cramming paid off!
What state are you folks in? Were the results posted in the morning as expected?
