AP Physics B: How do you think you did?

wait yo Quesce why did u start at 40 for the MCQ and FRQ? werent there a total possible 70 questions on the MCQ, and 80 on the FRQ?

omg..that was the hardest exam i've EVER taken in my life....i took form B...the mc was a KILLER...the free response were doable, but i didnt know the thermo (i don't get PV diagrams) n also the point charge one (I dont get those either)....i prolly got a 1 or a 2 if i get lucky....i guess thats what happens when u start ap physics second semester...:(

sz, I had the same one as you. It was hard. =(

wait yo Quesce why did u start at 40 for the MCQ and FRQ? werent there a total possible 70 questions on the MCQ, and 80 on the FRQ?

er..because it's out of 70 and 40 is the number i think i got right. And I did my calculations wrong. it's out of 90 in the end

oh so its ((whatever u think you got)*1.2857)/90?

Jah. I believe so.

damn i wanna start talking about this one already

Couldn't you more easily take your Multiple Choice Score and multiply that by 9/7 and then take your free response score and multiply that by 9/8. After that, that'll be your score out of 180

And if 60% is a 5, then as long as you're over 108, it's good?

last year it was 63%

Umm... Yeah, that's great; I said if. And it varies year to year, so I just used 60% as a ballpark estimator to show the process of how to find your score.

aite chill out im just saying.... calm down

Well. The MC totally killed me. Butchered me. This guy i have PHysics said thought it was easy but I swear, I felt like I was guessing on all of them. Ugh gets headache just thinking about it And I was one of the brightest in my class too! sigh on the practice 1998 exam, I got 32 right, but I don't even know for this......cries

I calculated my raw score if I got 25 right (out of 70, pathetic) and 55/80 on the FR and it comes out to 79.545 or 80, a comfortable three. So I guess I should expect a three. Dammit. feels like crying I really, really hope I didn't do as bad on the MC as I thought I did and got atleast a four....prays fervently to God

I believe the scoring is done like this:
-You get a score out of 5 for MC
-You get a score out of 5 for FR
Then, the scores are averaged and that becomes your grade.
I.E., lets say you get 4.5 in MC and a 4 in FR, you will get a 4.
5 in MC and 4 in FR, you get a 5

My teacher has been doing AP for ~20 years and one year (recently) in his class report it listed how many people got 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5 ,etc on each section then the total scores. Unless they changed the grading system?

Just out of curiosity, are the curves/grading scales for AP Physics B: Form B different from Form A?

aite its been basically 48 hours since the start of the test, how did u find the thickness in the thin film, and between which interfaces, was there 180 degree reversal?

I had a different version of the AP.

By the way, I just took a look at Form A. It's a lot harder than Form B this year. XD

Yeah, I noticed that too. Unfortunately for me, I took the entire Form A exam and only got to see the Form B free response - LUCKY FOR ALL YOU FORM B TESTERS :( Ours was harder!! Was the Form B MC difficult?

Despite it being easier I still know I baumed it. Firstly because I changed my answer for the first question completely - when it was only ONE step off. I would have probably gotten close to full marks for that had I not changed my answer. Secondly, because I had a last minute panic session and was unable to correctly answer the EASY ideal gas law problem. Thirdly, we had not covered diffraction + atomic physics (we've only done nuclear physics, it was a toss up), so I was at a disadvantage at every point for the FRQs, and being my first AP I was extremely restless in my mind - that helped me to do worse.

The MCQs were easier I felt, but I hope for my own sake I did very well on them since I will otherwise only obtain a 3 or 4. I am desperately hoping for a 5. Do you by anychance know the curves/how to calculate the score?
