Which one is funnier/easier?

Also, Is it doable to take AP PHYSICS C without any prior knowledge?

Thank you guys :D

Which one is funnier/easier?

Also, Is it doable to take AP PHYSICS C without any prior knowledge?

Thank you guys :D

You can take both without prior knowledge, but you should have a basic understanding of derivatives and integrals before taking Physics C.

I only took AP Physics C - mechanics in HS, so I can’t really say which AP is easier or harder. I took the equivalent E/M course at MIT (8.02). Both courses were pretty fun, but IMO C - mechanics has more interesting problems.

Ok, I am currently enrolled in AP Physics 2 ( B) right now, is it meaningless to take it? I think I should change to AP Physics C. By the way, I am aiming for STEM fields such as MIT/GT/Catech, did you take AP English class? should I take AP English? I am taking honors english…

I never took Physics B…I heard it’s basically non-calculus based physics. MIT and Caltech don’t offer credit for Physics B.

Yep, I took AP Language and Lit, and while the classes were alright and the books we read were, for the most part, interesting, I didn’t really care much for the AP exam. Got 2’s on both w/out preparation.

Do you think taking AP English is necessary for STEM field? I recently moved to new school and I can’t take AP English due to school policy… If it is neccessar, I will fight for it…

^ Ehh, not really. However it is important to be able to express your ideas through writing, and critique others’.

Addressing the original question: Mechanics is definitely much easier than E&M. I took Mech, this year and will be studying E&M this year. So far, I feel that E&M is more fun and interesting, but that might just be me.

If you’re confident in your science/math abilities, go for AP physics C. Mechanics is very easy (some difficulties include rotation). E&M is a bit more tough with more emphasis on calculus. Grab a review book and just skim over it if you can.

I decided to take AP Physics 2… my teacher strongly recommend me to take AP Physics 2 during junior and AP Physics C senior. How do you guys this about it?

Will there be disadvantage if I take AP Physics 2 ? Should I just go for AP Physic C? I am aiming for mit

If you’re aiming for MIT, I’d go for Physics C. It’s basically a calculus-based physics course. However if you haven’t studied calculus yet, take Physics B.

If you haven’t yet, check with your school and see if they offer mech and e&m in one course. Many schools offer Physics C that way where each course is a semester long. If you are just going to take one, do mech, it’s easier and almost always taken first.
