Lol 6 APs down 3 to go
I thought mech wasn’t that bad. I couldn’t finish FRQ 3 in the time limit (and didn’t really know how), but it was alright. E&M though. Holy crap #3 murdered the heck out of me. In all fairness I self studied for both (entirely in the last 4 days). Still, I just looked at it and turned white.
Am I the only one who thought both the exams were difficult?
Depends on how one defines difficult. I thought they were very tedious (as pure derivations tend to be), and on both tests there were things I blatantly did not know.
As in, the MC for mechanics was fine. The FRQ was kind of difficult but the last one just killed me.
The MC was hard for EM (had to guess like 5) but the FRQ was trivial except the last one.
Hoping to get a 5.
I agree with ChemFire for the most part, but for me, I messed up some of both the last 2 frqs on E& M, and some on the last Mechanics one. I guessed a few for the mc for both, but I think I got above a 25 on both of them.
I thought mechanics MC and FRQ were supereasy (although I almost ran out of time on the 3rd question). I got rekt by the E&M test
I think I can pass mechanics, but I’ll be lucky to get a 2 in E and M.
Moral of the story: 2 days is not enough time to self teach and master E & M. Even if I somehow managed beyond all possibility to get a 5 on E & M, I would retake in college, because I have very little mastery, and limited understanding.
What test form did you guys have?
I had O for Mech (the same as most people?) but then E for E&M. Mechanics was rough, especially the FRQ. E&M MC was tough but the FRQ were pretty straightforward.
I had O for mech. When I got it I was scared bc last year for APUSH I think I got form O, and that turned out to be like an alternate form, and no one had similar stuff to mine. I was hoping it wasn’t an alternate again this year, seems like it wasn’t alternate.
Is it actually true that a 5 is 50/90 + and a 4 is like 38-40/90+ ?? Why is the curve SO lenient?
@ChemFire085 Because the test is hard af and they feel bad for us?
@JuicyMango LOL. but is the curve actually that lenient still?
@ChemFire085 Yeah, I took an international practice exam from 2014, and I think it was 55+ for a 5, so pretty much. I predict it’ll be around the same since both tests were similar in difficulty.
Of the 8 AP exams I have ever taken, every single one has been form O, and the form code has always been 4MBP. I just assumed it was the only form that there was (for US at least). I predict my next 2 will be the same.
I thought this year’s exams were much harder the previous ones. If normally you only need 55% to get a 5, then will they lower that percentage for this year?
@cp1443 I completely agree.
As someone that personally went though every released multiple choice and frq, and, while I could be biased because of the intensity of actually taking the exam today, mechanics was overall more difficult than any I’ve seen personally, especially that third frq. I’ve always breezed through the released MC exams as well as those in my prep books, but this test had many that made me sit there and really conceptually attempt to understand what was going on.
@Anubis13 agreed. I thought mcq was harder than usual but I was able to get through it. And like everyone else I thought the frq was crazy (especially number 3), I didn’t even finish.
I think O means operating, so it’s typically the most widely distributed one. That’s why all the released FRQ are Form O.
