AP Physics I and SAT II Physics

My older son, who is in college now, took AP Physics B without taking New York Regent Physics (regular High School Physics). He took SAT II Physics and got 800.

Starting from Fall 2014, my son’s high school will provide AP Physics I and II, as guided by National Research Council and National Science Foundation recommendations. One for each school year, normally 11th and 12th grade.

I have checked the Curriculum of AP Physics I and II and the material covered by SAT II Physics. Only the combination of AP Physics I and II fully covers the material of SAT II Physics. That means my younger son cannot take SAT II Physics until the end of 12th grade, which is useless for college admission.

Any suggestion?

Start physics as a sophomore, or just don’t take the physics SAT2 test. Unless he is planning to be a physics major I think there are very few programs which would expect it.

Is he not allowed to take both courses simultaneously?

Because that effectively would have been Physics B
