Does anyone know how Case Western awards credits for AP classes?
I found this on their website: “Credit will be posted on your record upon admission and as we receive it. If, after admission to CWRU, you complete a course for which you received credit/exemption on the basis of AP, IB or A-Level examinations, the credit/exemption for that course will be forfeited and will not count toward graduation requirements.”
To me that seems kind of contradictory? First it says credit will be posted and then it says credit will not count toward graduation requirements? And then it goes on to list the number of credit hours I would get for each class.
Case’s AP policy is one of the main reasons I am considering it, because if they award credit for all my AP’s, I would have about 60 credits and could try to graduate in 2-2.5 years.
Does anyone have more insight into their AP policy?
Thanks!

What they are saying is that say, You got a 5 on the Calc AB test and then you took Math 121 (Calc 1), then you would not get credit for math 121 because you already got credit.
That’s saying that AP credit cannot be double-counted with college course credit. Don’t take any classes for which you have already received AP credit and you’re good.
Case Western issues each incoming freshman a transcript which is mailed to your home in about July, with all your AP/IB/conncurent enrollment credits clearly marked. You get a P or Pass for all IB, AP and concurrent enrollment classes which they accept.
You can choose to repeat a class and then the credit will be removed. So for instance, my son got credit for Physics/ Mechanics but then he decided to take an HONORS physics sequence, from the beginning, so they removed the IB credit for physics/ Mechanics and replaced it with his actual grade in the Case Western class.
