AP Psychology Study Group 2011

What’s good to have for breakfast & lunch?

@JoalFL same here! all I did was read the barrons book all spring break. Sigh… so much for a spring break.

Wow… you have a late spring break o_o usually it’s in March (but then again it’s cold and rainy in March so it’s not much of a spring break)

Keep looking up ^^ if you’re a senior… it’s almost over
And if you’re not… tough luck :(

haha, thanks for the clear up rouxb, the reason I asked is because our HW for tomorrow is to write that pep rally FRQ… do you fail the FRQ if you use bullets? (but sentences with each bullet)… Also what is the difference between Fundamental attribution error and actor-observer bias…?

And also can someone give me a brief hypnosis summary…? LOL

@rouxbo, damn dude your’e doing some hard core term-dropping, haah I expect you to get a 5. (self-fulfilling prophecy)

Is yerkes-dodson vital for the test? (the term itself, not the application, lol)

Bananas, Yogurt, Whole wheat bread/ brown looking stuff…
That’s what I’m planning on shoveling down my throat at least (:

@Interficio hypnosis isnt too big, if anything it would be Hilgard’s experiment

@jaanga- yeah like the last 5 days i was at Books a million studying my ass off… lol.

@ rouxbo- im a sophomore, the worst has yet to come

@ Interficio: Hm… probably not? I don’t see it pop up too often in practice exams to be honest… but it’s good to know?

@JoalFL That’s the plan (: a 5 to offset my utter failure in APES…

@ Interficio I mean on one practice test I took it showed up as a graph, but other than that I would just know that the more arousal = performance, up to a point, then it declines- an upside down U (in a graph)

@rouxbo I’m taking APES next year…with 4 other AP classes, and 2 IB. I’m gonna die.

Anyone have some good tips for staying up tonight and studying for the test while doing other homework?

F my effing life!!!

The only question I’ve ever seen on hypnosis was on the 2 theories (role and state theories) and also… something about if you’re susceptible to hypnosis, you’re more “open”

@JoalFL - Oh good gracious that sounds horrible… I’m a senior so I’m done with high school after this next week  Don’t slack off… Junior year is important!

And APES is super easy (: most of it is common sense…

yeah i saw that same question, it was pertaining to the big five traits, and you are more susceptible to hypnosis if you score high in openness

@ZombieDante Do you have to go to class tomorrow, too?

@rouxbo… lucky… and yeah junior year im gonna die. It’ll be like…extended Seyles GAS.

Can someone pleaseeee explain hypnosis (hilgard’s take)…  :D

and also can someone help me differentiate between ego and superego… LOL sorry for all the questions…

Basically Hilgard explained hypnosis through the dissociation theory, which causes us to divide our consciousness voluntarily. One part of consciousness –> responds to hypnotist’s suggestions, the other remains aware of reality

His experiment:

 • He asked participants to put arm in ice water (hypnotized patients felt no pain due to the cold)
 • He then asked them to lift their finger if any part of them felt the pain
 • Most participants lifted the finger

–> demonstrates: part of consciousness monitors what is happening, another parts listens to hypnotist

Hilgard held that a person undergoing hypnosis can still observe his/her own pain without consciously experiencing any suffering (he made them dip their arm in FREEZING water). Actuallly… here: [Ernest Hilgard - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Ernest Hilgard - Wikipedia).
It’s pretty long, haha
