I'm going into my sophomore year of high school and I'm going to be taking two AP's this coming year and I will be taking AP European history with either AP Psych or APHUG and I wasn't sure which of the two classes I should've gone with. Which of the two classes do you guys think has an easier exam, which is more interesting, and which will most likely have the lighter workload?

Easiest? Psych. Most interesting? Psych. Lighter workload? Psych.

Although I’m not sure these are the questions you want to be asking.

What do you mean by that?

When you’re in sophomore year, it shouldn’t matter how hard a course is as long as you think you’re able to handle it. And you shouldn’t take classes just to get the easy A.

On the contrary, mrnephew. While colleges do seem to favor rigor over fun, MidNiteTots can pick between only two AP classes. What does it matter to us that he wants an easy class? I want easy classes and I got them.

To answer your question…based on personal experience, AP Psychology would be the better choice.

Because it’s only two AP classes, I’m suggesting rigor over fun this year because OP won’t have that luxury for the next few years.

OP just asked which one was easier and more interesting, and I gave my answer and I’m not harping him on the rigor because it was not asked about. I suggest you follow my lead.

No thanks. I feel like I have a moral obligation to address it even if it wasn’t asked, because it might help OP later on.

I did address the question, though.

Well put.

Interesting smattering of new profile pictures. Are you sticking with that one?

I don’t know what it is, due to my phone being weird. What is it?

Some old dude swag.

Physc

I’m in an IB school, but I absolutely loved my IB Psychology class. It was no doubt the class that provided me the most physical work to do (that was assigned, at least), but it was the most engaging and I definitely learned a lot from it.

So I’d say take Psych (but then again, I’m IB… so…idk how AP works).

Ok I think I’ll be taking psych next year. Also I’m in the IB program too along with AP classes so I’ll probably take IB psych in my junior year as a sixth subject if I don’t double up on IB science.

Note that Human Geography is probably the easiest overall AP, but many people do not treat it seriously. And many colleges do not accept anything other than a 5 on it for credit, if at all.

I think you should take the AP class that you’re more interested in. At the end of the day, you’re going to have what you learned and the experience you got out of the class, not the satisfaction that one AP class that you took impresses admission officers more than another AP class. I agree with the others; I’d choose Psych unless you heard the teacher for AP HUG is really good (and that Psych one is not).
