This is going to be my schedule for next year and I don’t know if I should take AP psych or AP euro. I want to take euro because it sounds interesting , and I feel like it does interest me , but I don’t know because that would be adding more weight to the already heavy load, that’s why I chose psychology as the second option , to alleviate the load a bit and to not put too much pressure on myself. In reality , European history probably interests me more than psychology does , and I also wanted to take that one because psychology can be taken online , European can’t , but like I said , the only thing that’s running through my mind is the workload of AP European history. AP Gov and AP Spanish I’m not so worried about , chemistry either , the only ones that worry me are English , calculus and physics , adding another heavy AP to that could cause me to fail all 7,
I vote AP Psych! I am in AP Psych this year (as a senior), and took AP Euro my sophomore year. I loved both classes, and although I think taking Euro was ultimately more valuable, Euro was ALOT more work than Psych was, and I am glad that my senior workload wasn’t too hard. Trust me, it gets pretty stressful first semester with college apps and all. If you didn’t already have such a full schedule I would recommend Euro, but I think for you the smarter choice is Psych – it’s also a really interesting class and I liked it a lot!!
AP Psych is more interesting
It depends on what you like and what you want to do in college, but I’d take AP European History because AP Psych is more self-studyable. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I learn history better with a teacher. But I do agree with @Meteoric in that psychology is super interesting.
The workload of AP classes always depends on the teacher, but my AP psych class was suuper easy. Pretty much every day was just taking notes, then we’d have a vocab quiz every week on the terms we learned, and then a test every week-2 weeks. Psych is literally just all memorization and if you can do that, you’ll ace the class. I usually started studying 3 days in advance for the tests, and I got As both semesters. Can’t say anything about AP Euro, but if you want an easy A in a class that’s actually interesting, take psych.
It sounds like you really like euro so I would recommend that. At my school the only homework we had was reading on week nights that was at most 10 pages most of then time like 4. I found Euro very interesting and it was one of my favorite classes!
AP Psych is definitely easier than AP Euro, so I would take the former, given the difficulty of the rest of your schedule. For me, AP Euro was ultimately more rewarding than AP Psych, but I had to put in more hours of studying for tests, reading the textbook, and working through practice tests in preparation for the AP exam, whereas for AP Psych, I mainly had to memorize vocabulary words and key researchers.
I’m going to second what everyone else is saying. AP Euro is an incredible class, but only if you have the time and desire to put in the work. It’s up to you, but I don’t think I could have done it as a senior.
