AP Psychology

Im planning to self-study for the AP test. I have Barron's AP Psych prepbook. Is this enough to get a 5 on the AP test? Or should I also read through a textbook? What textbooks do you guys use?

I'm self-studying AP Psych this year too. I haven't bought my review book yet (can you say procrastination?) but I'll probably buy Barron's or PR.

Anyway, from what I've heard from others who have self-studied, a review book like Barron's is enough. However, it can't hurt to look at outside stuff. http://www.appsychology.net (I'm not sure if this is the correct URL) has AP Psych notes on every chapter from a commonly used textbook. I downloaded all of them (it didn't take too long) and they seem like they'd be an excellent supplement to Barron's prepbook. The site also has a bunch of other useful review materials. The wonders of google!

I also have a textbook, even though I'll probably never use it - Psychology by Saul Kassen, Third Edition. It's really easy to read and has all of the recommended material for the AP exam. You might want to see if you can find a later edition, though, since it's from 2001.

Good luck!

Barron's should be enough for a general overview. But purchasing 5 steps to a 5 wouldn't be a bad idea cuz it definitely fills in the points missed out in the Barron's one and i found the practice tests at the back quite useful. :)

You might want to CLEP it instead, though, if your university will accept it--it's cheaper ($55 vs. $70) and sometimes easier! ...oh, AND you can take the CLEP any time at a local school that offers it!

I'm also self-studying for psych using Barron's. Haven't started actually getting into the material. Do you think if I wait until April 2nd (day after SAT)....I'll have enough time to read through it...and review for my other 3 AP tests!!!! Thanks!

Yeah, you guys are smart to self-study. I took the class, finished 3 days ago, learned diddly-squat. Bought the Princeton Review, which is supposed to be a summary, right? Well, it's more detailed than my textbook. Trust me, any study guide will get you to a 5.

I'm self studying, too. I don't plan on hardcore studying until May 4, after my real AP's. The only other one I'm taking after that is Chem, on the same day as Psych, but I'm very confident about chem.

I'm self studying AP Chem and psychology too!! We should exchange some experience :P

Hm, I'm self-studying AP Psychology as well. Actually, I haven't started, but it's my sophomore year, my time to be rebellious and whatnot. I'll get Barrons and probably something else. Cheers.

AP Psych is the easiest AP ever.

Can you give me a brief outline please? Recommendations on how to study, tips, sites, etc? All is appreciated.

Princeton Review now, SparkNotes powerpack 2 weeks before, if you're really motivated go to a half-price bookstore and find a textbook, or you could just go talk to the teacher at your school, if that's an option, read the CC threads on AP Psych, and you should be good. Study for like, 2 hours tops per day, probably less than that. If you have any questions, I'll try to be available occasionally, although once my spring break is over my time on CC will see a dramatic decrease.

yeah, everyone tells me that AP psych is the easiest ap test, but i'm doing an "independent study" on it that isn't quite independent. and the tutorial-esque thing is SO hard. i have to know random psychological studies and statistics. and the essay questions my advisor gives me are 4 part questions, and each part does not correlate at all. i REALLY hope the test won't be as difficult!

Does anyone have any tipsfor me..i'm doing independent study next year for AP Psychology and AP Chem..should i study a little bit the whole school year, or is waiting until like march/april good enough to learn the info..im also taking like 2 other AP's and i may be adding AP Stat or AP Euro to my independent study. thanks

Wow so even if I start studying now, Apr.2nd, lol.. I could get a 5 if I study hard? Because it is my 10th grade right now, and I want to do something because I've been having so much free time these days (easy courses this semester).. Can anyone give me some advice?
And I know the application deadline is over but I heard that there may be some extra copies of tests available?
Oh, and also, is there an essay in this test? I am a little weak on essays.. thanks.
