Ap rescore?

I know this is pretty late, being months after the "AP rush". But how exactly do I "Rescore" an exam? I noticed on the collegeboard site that other scoring/reporting options give you a printable form to submit under the description but the rescore option doesn't? AP Scores - AP Scores & Reporting Services

up10chargogo

Scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says “Other Scoring Services”

Isn’t it frustrating how vague the website is?

Basically, to get a rescore, you have to send them a letter. You have to include your name, address, phone number, test name, year taken (I don’t remember all of it, call them up and ask).

So you send them a letter and provide all the needed information in a succinct way. You also have to provide a check for $25 or a credit card number.

alright cool, also another dumb question about the credit card, do they accept debit as well? and do i have to provide my 3 digit security number on the back of my card and or PIN # ? I looked under “other scoring services” and didn’t see anything about it, i was just wondering.

Danny356 - There is another thread on this site with useful information. It is titled "Successful AP Rescore Stories ".

Do call them 1-888-225-5427 or 609-771-7300 for all the information that you need to provide and the correct fax number or mailing address. I do not know if they take debit cards. We just received My Daughter’s rescore-faxed in the request, paid by credit card, sent a follow up email to confirm receipt, our process to 4 weeks.

Her US History score went from a “2” to a “5”. Her Multiple Choice section had not been graded by the machine so it was not included in her score.

I would make one suggestion although quite a few people would disagree with it. I would also request a copy of the Free Response book for an additional $7.00. That way you will know that it was not lost or set aside in a pile for whatever reason( it is NOT regraded, and the copy you get has no comments, scores or markings but at least you will know that it was not misplaced). The successful rescores seem to come from reported scores that only included one of the two sections - either the MC was not graded by the machine and set aside,as in my Daughter’s case, or the Free Response book was set aside/misplaced and not added to the MC score. I also read one post where once AP looked at the Free Response book they discovered that not all of the Free Response answers had been included in the Free Response score. I do not think they would have discovered that if a copy of the Free Response book had not been requested.

There is a deadline within which you have to request the rescore-after that the exams are probably discarded. I think it is still some time away, but do NOT hesitate. Mistakes DO happen- My Daughter’s rescore results are evidence of that.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the update on the successful rescore story. Congratulations. Have a question on your post . In your post, you had mentioned as below…

Quote from mommalis post << I also read one post where once AP looked at the Free Response book they discovered that not all of the Free Response answers had been included in the Free Response score.
Can you please point me to the particular post or the link that talks about this. So far, all I have read is about the possibility of the entire section (MC or FR) being lost. Never has there been any post on a part of the free response section not being included

Anyone else with such similar successful experiences here?

Well, guess what? It happens. Anything within reason (and then some) can happen when a company needs to score more than 1 million exams.

Actually, the number of books to be scored this year is about 3.8 million.
