how do you know if you’ve received it? According to my calculations, which are probably correct since it’s not too hard to calculate, I am an AP Scholar of some sort. I received my test scores in the mail like everyone else in July, but it doesn’t say anything about it. Do we receive these awards later or at all? And if we haven’t technically received them, can we still write it on our app as an “academic honour?”

The AP awards should come this fall. It's pretty easy to figure out which one you will get - the criteria are posted on the College Board website.

I think the criteria is also on the back of your score report.
From what I can tell though, getting those awards don't mean much in college admissions.

Yeah, since the requirements consist of things like, 6 or more AP tests with a score of 4 or better, it has no effect on adcoms b/c they already know your scores.

The AP Program offers several special Scholar Awards to recognize students who have demonstrated college level achievement through AP courses and examinations. Although there is no monetary award, the achievement is
acknowledged on grade reports sent to colleges and universities, and students are awarded a certificate from the College Board for their achievement.

AP Scholar: Granted to students who receive grades of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.

AP Scholar with Honour: Granted to students who receive an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

AP Scholar with Distinction: Granted to students who receive an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

National AP Scholar (Canada): Granted to students in Canada who receive an average grade of at least 4 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on five or more of these exams.

AP International Diploma: The Advanced Placement International Diploma (APID) certifies the achievement of successful AP candidates, and is recognized at universities throughout the world. To qualify for the APID, students must earn AP examination grades of 3 or higher for four or more full year courses, encompassing three of the five academic areas, and taken during their high school career.

ETS Advanced Placement Examinations:
All students are afforded the opportunity to write the ETS Advanced Placement examinations. At St. Andrews, dedicated classes are offered in Economics, Calculus and Statistics, and students opt to write other exams based on an enriched Ontario Secondary School curriculum. Ontario universities are currently reviewing their departmental policies with regard to advanced credits for scores of 3, 4 and 5.

Don't worry. I'm here now. Everything will (never) be okay.

Anyway, you'll receive the appropriate certificate in October/November. There have been threads already about whether you should be allowed to report it as an award/honor on your application if you haven't received the actual award yet.

The general consensus is just to say "AP Scholar with Distinction Award (pending certificate)" or something. Announce that you'll be getting it, but you haven't received the official thing yet because Collegeboard is too slow.
