Question about AP Scholar

I got my certificate the other day in the mail for the AP Scholar award. My question is this: I have four AP tests with three 5s and one 4. Shouldn't that mean that I'm an AP Scholar with Honor and not just a regular AP scholar? This is the criteria according to the College Board website:

AP Scholar

Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.

AP Scholar with Honor

Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

Am I completely wrong? Does it even matter if I'm an AP Scholar vs. AP Scholar with Honor? Thank you!

It matters a bunch but you’re not alone! I know a TON of people who’ve received mixed up awards. One, who received the same award two years in a row even though he doubled his AP count.

Contact the College Board!

Okay, good to know that it’s not just me! I will contact the College Board and try to get this fixed before I send in my apps. Thanks so much!

Oh wow I didn’t even realize that. I’ve taken five APs and gotten 55544 and only got AP Scholar so I guess I should have gotten AP Scholar with Distinction right?

How do you receive an award? I have a similar profile like OP, but have yet received one. Does Collegeboard send the certificate straight away to you? Or you have to contact them?

my question why isnt there awards for people like me who’ve taken 3 tests with all 5’s!! haha they prob just want u to take more tests =more money

Same thing happened to my son. It turns out that they had two accounts for him (one with his middle initial, one without his initial, for tests taken in two separate years) so they weren’t counting the correct number of tests. A phone call was able to take care of it right away.

Side Note: When you get your AP score report, it should have all tests listed on it, including those from previous years.

what does the AP scholar with Distinction mean? I got all 5’s, on five tests, and so is that only for 5?s

[AP: Scholar Awards](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>Qualifying for an AP Scholar Award – AP Students | College Board) –> That’s where I got all of the info about the various different levels from.

I didn’t have to do anything in order to get the AP Scholar award - they just sent me the certificate in the mail!

Relax, if you’re looking at top colleges it’s not even worth using a line to mention. Just list tests and scores. Everyone will have these “honors”.

Disagree ^^^. Depending on what else ya got, it’s worth the line to mention.
