I remember seeing it once a year ago, but I can't find it anymore ... Can anyone provide a link or the statistics about how many juniors are scholars, scholars with distinction, national scholar, etc?

Just curious ... I got National AP Scholar, and I'm going to be a senior this fall ... how rare/common is this?

it used to be pretty rare ( i think less than 100 a year) but when they made the requirements easier last year, i'm sure the number drastically rose. it is still relatively rare, however

Although it wasn't exactly for what I was looking. I had seen a page once that broke it down ... say, "AP National Scholar: 4000 seniors, 356 juniors, 1 sophomore" ... breakdown by grade level and award type.

it's in the file a the bottom... it just has it by state... and I don't feel like addng them all up
hxxp://apcentral.collegeboard.com/repository/ap05scholarawards40968.xls
but for an example...
Ohio had 220 national AP scholars... 1 sophomore, 11 juniors, 201 seniors...
wow, I didn't realize how rare it was to get it as a junior... I feel a little better... if you extrapalate that data then it's like... 30 sophomores, 300 juniors, 6000 seniors

National AP Scholar
Granted to students in the United States who receive an average grade of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.

How prestigious is it? Will it help on college apps? (lol everything to me now-a-days is about helping on college apps... its horrible) Colleges will add more weight to it because we got it as juniors, not seniors, right?

I'm going to be a senior this upcoming year, but got Scholar as a sophomore as well (hopefully will be scholar with distinction/honor after this year's AP's and national after next year's).

Nice, I know I'll sound like a whiny b****, but our physics B teacher was horrible only 10 people passed out of around 70. Plus, traditionally its taken junior year around here.

Congrats to you then for passing...Hardly any of my class passed either (terrible teacher who didn't do a THING for the physics C kids this year), but I just have a really strong math/science background so that's how I pulled off the 5.

Wow, do I feel dumb in comparison to all you AP Scholars! My school started offering APs two years ago, and next year we will offer a total of seven. Nobody can take AP classes at our school until 11th grade. The greatest number of courses anyone has taken in his high school career so far is only four at my school. Next year, though, I will break this with five at the school and one online. Still, how am I supposed to stand out relative to the people who have taken half of the available exams?
