How many rising seniors in the USA are AP Scholars with 3 or more exams passed going into their Senior year? I have seen stats on the total number of AP Scholars, but not this.

Um... a lot. It varies from school to school, i think this year's senior class had 26/400 scholars or so. Couple w/honors, couple w/distinction.

National AP Scholar here.

I was a National AP Scholar when I started senior year.

If you really want to know, you can use the data here:
http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/repository/schoolpressrelease200_38870.rtf

57782 total junior AP test takers
430 National AP Scholars
34938 AP Scholars
8550 Scholars with Distinction
3494 Scholars with Honors
6 State Scholars

tanman, whered you find that?

and isn't w/distinction harder than w/honors?

there are at least three states in which juniors have taken more AP's than seniors? wow.

when are you officially notified of getting these awards?

I will be an AP Scholar with Distinction going into my senior year. 5 tests taken - 3 5's, 2 4's with a Calculus AB subscore of 5. (Am I right in thinking the AB subscore doesn't factor into my AP grade average?)

Had I known about the Scholar Awards before, I probably would've attempted to get National AP Scholar a year earlier than I will so that I could put it on college apps, but oh well. shrugs

I'm will be an AP Scholar...Three 3's and two 2's...It's really bad, I know...

26/400 isn't really a lot. 6.5%

We had 25 National AP Schloars, and 9 Juniors

I am an AP scholar with Distinction going into Senior year...

5's on US, Euro, Micro, Macro, Stat
4's on Span and Eng Lit

Sorry Cesky, I meant it varied and that's why we had very little. Although our school in general isn't really brainy.

What I might is that the AP Scholar is something to be proud of even if its considered common on CC. My school probably didn't do any better

i'm going to be an AP Scholar!
APUS-4
AP Chem-3
AP English Lang.-2
AP World (Last year)-3

AP Scholar with Distinction!
5s-World, US, Eng Lang, Calc BC (and AB Sub), Human Geo
4-Physics C: Mech
2-Physics C: E&M

alright, so instead of helping on answering the question, people are bragging about their AP scores.... what losers...

how many people actually recieve an AP Scholar Award? I went to AP Central or whatever, but all they have is a crazy chart and I am way too lazy to look it up... it also doesn't say how many got the award at the beginning of senior year... which is all that really matters for the college admission process...

so... bottom line...

how many people in the class of 2007 will have the "honor" of being called an AP Scholar? <5%?

Thanks!!

The number of students awarded AP National Scholar award, before graduation, for the year 2004-2005: 435 students. Bottom line.
