AP Sciences.

Hi, I'm pretty sure I'm going into business in college, and I'm trying to figure out my senior schedule in high school. I know science isn't very important for business. I was going to take AP Physics, but would colleges like to see that. Would it give me a leg up versus if I took AP Environmental, because I have 3-4 other AP classes. I've heard that colleges like to see the "Big 3" (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)? Physics will be very hard, not that I can't pull off an A though. Also for business would AP Psychology or AP Lit help me.
Thanks for any help.

Also I’m looking into the top universities in the nation- so anything to help my chances.

The AP sciences/maths are generally more rigorous than the non-science/math courses, so colleges like to see prospective business majors challenging themselves that way. Besides, if you get 4s and 5s on those courses and you major in business you might not have to take them again in college. College science or math is a whole lot less fun than AP science/math. If you can take a psych course in college instead of Calc, wouldn’t you rather do that?

For biz, Calc BC is the main course that you should take. AP Stats would also be great background. AP Lit will make you a better writer and make the college writing course a little more bearable.

Any of the sciences will work. Physics is probably over-kill for Biz.

When you speak of “the top universities in the nation” what colleges do you mean exactly? Because here on CC, they often mean Top 10 national universities/LACs, which do not have business as a major (as it’s seen as a more “vocational” major, like nursing-students there would often take economics and math, then work, then apply for MBA programs).
If you mean “top programs for business” such as Stern and Wharton, then you need to be in the top 5% of your high school class with the most rigorous program available to you especially in math, as a bare minimum, plus exceptional actions related to business.
If you aim for a business major at your state flagship things are different although a good GPA and 4Ap’s would certainly be considered normal. Physics wouldn’t be necessary over Environmental Science, for instance.

Stern, Wharton, Marshall, Haas, Anderson?
