AP score report- not reporting scores and not on transcript?

Hi! My school does not report AP Exam scores on our transcripts. I was wondering if I chose to report some but not all of my AP exam scores on the common app if this would look like a red flag to colleges.
Any input would be helpful! Thanks!

Some perspective on the admissions front regarding AP scores: neither of my kids applied to elite/top schools, most were ranked #50-#100 range.

My eldest (2016) did not submit nor self report a single one of her 12 AP scores. She was accepted at every one of the schools she applied too (12 in total) for direct entry DPT/Biomedical Science, here are the ones I recall: Pitt, Purdue, Marquette, Drexel, College of Wooster, Ohio University, Quinnipiac, Duquesne, Baldwin Wallace, Seton Hall.

My youngest (2018) on the other hand choose to submit/self-report her 9 AP scores; including a 1 (yes a 1) on her Physics I AP. She was accepted to all but one of the schools to which she applied (16 total) for Psychology: University of Florida, Florida State, Texas A&M, Loyola Chicago, Trinity University, U of South Carolina, Auburn, College of Charleston, Fordham, LSU, Ole Miss, High Point, SFA, Clemson (waitlisted, ultimately accepted), UT (capped), U of Washington (denied).

I have just listed 27 great schools that were happy to accept a student without knowing the student’s AP scores and/or didn’t seem to be bothered by seeing a 1.

Thank you very much!!!

Also for anyone else who sees this:

  • I am ranked 3/870 at a large, public school
  • 4.45 weighted gpa after junior year, 4.0 uw gpa
  • strong extracurriculars (research at a local university which is a top 20 school, founder and president of vet club and doctors without borders chapter, many other leadership positions in NHS, key club, etc.)

My issue is that my AP scores just aren’t very strong- 4s in env. science and human geo; 3s in euro history, lang, and psych; 2 in us history; 1 in physics

I guess my big question is- is it ok to report ONLY my 4s and 3s but not my 2 and 1?

Where are you planning to apply?

My dream school is the University of Notre Dame. Other than that- Ohio State, Michigan State, Purdue, Butler University, and Miami of Ohio.

Don’t report your scores. They are not going to help your admissions profile. Those schools are not particularly “holistic” in their review of applicants. Your overall pattern of scores is not stellar and the AP courses you did score higher on (4) are not considered difficult in the grand scheme of AP courses. I don’t think reporting your scores will give you a boost, so there is really no need to report any.

Okay! Thank you!

For anyone with any intel on Notre Dame admissions, specifically, any advice is appreciated! I know they claim to be “holistic” in their admissions review, but I don’t know how AP Scores would play into that.
