I was checking my daughter’s Cal Poly portal yesterday and noticed that now that she is ‘officially’ admitted, she has full access to all the links, e.g. Admissions, Money Matters, Housing, Registration, etc. I was looking at her Student’s Degree Progress Report, (from Student Center->Other academic->Degree Progress), where you can see a listing of things like General Undergraduate Degree Requirements, GPA Requirements, and General Education Requirements, with the # of units needed and # of units taken indicated. If you scroll down towards the bottom, you can see the courses that were satisfied through AP credit (indicated by a green colored circle). My daughter should have received credit for Math 141, 142 by taking AP Calc BC, and that’s when I realized that Cal Poly had only received her AP scores from May, 2012 (I thought all AP scores were sent). So I called AP Services and requested that her scores from 2010 and 2011 be sent to Cal Poly - they charge $15/test year and will send the scores in a week (I think it’s $25 for expedited service). My daughter will be attending SOAR in late July, and I’m hoping all her AP scores will be received in time for planning and registration, so she’ll be placed in the right courses. Hope no one else made the same mistake as me!

I don’t think you made a mistake. We just returned from SOAR, and there was no registering or academic advising.

My scores for both years were automatically send to Cal Poly and are showing up in my portal. The bummer is that it looks like I now have 19 useless credits as they don’t apply to any classes I need for my major (including the AP Gov credit). I did get rid of three classes I need to take but that is it.

@ those of you that know, what happens to those unassigned credits?
Is there no value for the AP Gov units?
There must be some way to squeze some value out of those things.
