Go onto My UC Santa Cruz, then go to Student Center and click on View Test Scores. Finally, click on View All. I got a 5 in AP Government and 4 in AP Spanish :)

So I got a 3 on AP Eng lit…does this mean I am in a normal english class now? lol ( I didn’t pass the AWPE)

It means you’re in the normal core course and won’t have to take the ELWR later.

thanks :)…

what happens if i got a 5 on AP Lang last year and a 3 on AP Lit this year? i think i was exempt from the AWPE because of my lang score and SAT

I think you already meet the C1 requirement if you get a 5 in the AP English test.

ugh! i didnt list any school to send my scores to cuz i was accepted to ucsc, but was waitlisted at another school! i just ordered to send my score report to ucsc today! im gonna have to wait about 7 business days before im able to see them online i guess…

thanks proteinman

ok i have another question haha…i don’t remember ever sending my ap scores from previous years to ucsc, but they’re posted on my portal and are “on record” for me. so somehow they already have them and i don’t need to send those scores in, right? this is confusing me lol

The score report is cumulative which means every AP test you have ever taken was in it.

ohh that makes so much sense! thanks =]

I have a question, What is the benefit of getting a 4 or 5 on ap literature? I got a 4. Doesnt that just mean I get to take a harder course? whats the benefit of that? Thanks

i didn’t get my scores yet :(

A three on an AP English test : “Either AP exam satisfies one IH and Entry Level Writing Requirement.”

“AP score of 4 or 5 satisfies the C1. Maximum of 8 credits granted for both AP exams.”

[UCSC General Catalog 2008-10](http://reg.ucsc.edu/catalog/html/undergrad_acad.html)

I’m betting a C1 class is a pre-requisite for C2 class. I’m also betting you have to take a C2 class, no matter what your major is. So, you get to take one class, a C2, instead of taking a C1 and a C2.

That’s pretty much right. C1 comes before C2. Everyone has to take C2, whether through their core course (if they placed out of C1) or in Writing 2.

@collegekidd1992 When you took your AP test(s), did you ask the CEEB to send the scores to UCSC?

If you didn’t I think you will have to call the CEEB and pay them to send the scores. Costs money - $15 for regular 7 day delivery, $25 for 2 day.

question… i passed the ap environmental science test but in the general catalog it says it doesn’t satisfy any GE although it’s worth 4 units… does that mean i don’t get any credit for passing the test?

also another question… i am taking an english 1a class during the summer at my local cc and its transferrable. do i automatically skip c1 and move onto c2 after passing the class??

It’s interesting isn’t it? If you are interested in environmental sciences, take the AP Chemistry. If you are interested in Chemistry or Physics, take another unrelated AP course. You might get credit for a GE that way. If you take Chemistry or Physics you’ll just be taking the class over again. I’m not sure you get to keep the credit for AP Physics or Chemistry if you take the lower division classes required for the major. Does anybody know? Something to ask about at orientation.

I don’t quiiite get what you’re saying, but I asked a similar question about credits at my orientation last year. The general rule is that “UCSC can go it better”. Or so they believe. So you’ll almost definitely get no credit toward your major for high AP scores (though it depends on the department), but you should be able to fulfill GEs with them.

^

what i was saying is that the ap environmental science test counts as 4 units, but it does not satisfy any GE requirements. does that mean i dont get any units for passing the test?

my other question was i am taking a freshmen college level english class during the summer. when i pass the class does that mean i move onto c2 or stay in c1??

When you have an orientation I think it’s always a good idea to have a list of questions ready. You’ve got two. At the same time it’s good to have some background information before you ask so you get the most out of the answer.

Since you know the class is transferrable, do you know the UCSC equivalent? If the equivalent is a c1, why wouldn’t you go on to a c2? But maybe it’s transferrable elective credit - which I think they are saying about the AP Enviromental. So, not applicable to any requirement other than the credit total? Which isn’t bad.
