I was given credit by my community college for my ap scores but I downloaded my official transcript and my credits aren’t there. CSU app says that I must copy all the information that is on that transcript exactly as it is, but that would mean leaving out my AP credit which I desperately need. How should I fill it out on my CSU app under courses?
Have you tried calling your CC’s registrar and ask them? Do you know which AP classes you were given credit? Do you have a copy of the College Board AP score report?
Under the Academic History tab there is a Standardized Test subsection where you can enter your AP tests and scores.
OP does not have access to their AP scores and which scores were given CC course credit.
Also check how your AP scores are given unit and subject credit at CSUs, which may be different from your current college (and different from UCs).
From the CSU Application website:
Applicants still need to enter AP and/or IB test information in the corresponding sections in the Academic History quadrant. The CSU awards credit for tests based on CSU policy and not what another college or university awards. You can review CSU test credit policies for AP, IB, and CLEP online.
So based on the above statement, you only need to know the AP scores and courses along which ones you plan to use for Transfer credit as stated by ucbalumnus.
Your CC will give you college credit for AP scores but, they didn’t administer your AP tests, the College Board did, via your high school.
The CC can only list their courses taken at their school.
Your high school transcript should have the AP scores noted.
You can contact your GC, at your CC, and ask how credit was given.
In the meantime, enter those scores, as noted by @my2caligirls, under the test section.
OP can sign into College Board and get scores, test dates, and AP ID - all needed to complete this section on the app - not complicated.
True but I think they were worried about the CC credit which according to the application info does not matter since it is up to the CSU’s.
Credit given for AP scores by the community college appears to matter for transfer purposes only if it is used by the community college to certify IGETC for the student. For other transfer purposes, the credit for AP scores policy of the college being transferred to is what matters.
My unofficial transcript recognizes the scores. I was given “credit” for all of them, but apparently, they are not on the official transcript. I do have a college board score report, but I think the CSU application wants to see that everything under college coursework is filled out exactly as the official transcript says.
As a transfer, I must also enter my AP scores as “courses” in the college coursework section, and to enter exactly as on my official transcript. The issue is that they aren’t on the official transcript. I’ve contacted the office at my cc that corresponds to these issues but unfortunately they take a long time to respond and today is the due date for the CSU app. My fault for not verifying this, but I was confident that the scores had been applied.
Pages 28 and 30 of https://www.calstate.edu/apply/transfer/Documents/transfer-application-guide-21-22.pdf say to report standardized tests (AP, IB, CLEP) in both college course work and standardized tests. Because page 28 refers to that listed on your college transcript, you may want to ask CSU directly what to do if your test scores are not listed on your college transcript.
Sorry, I forgot an important tidbit of information, which is that I’m a transfer. I first went to cc and am wanting to transfer to CSU. I sent my ap scores to the cc, they recognized my ap scores. But they are not on my official transcript. I’m realizing this is likely an issue that only my cc could fix.
thank you, I will take it up with the appropriate offices. Thanks for the advice!
