AP Scores Important in Admissions?

How important, if at all, are AP scores in the admissions process? I got some fives that i'd like the admissions people to take a look at if it would help my chances to get in to colleges, but do they even consider AP scores when deciding for admission?

I would like to know as well, but moreso if you didnt get a 5 would it hurt you much.

I think they are considered if sent in - certainly a lot of ppl would send their scores in so it would enhance ur file if u scored well on them and sent them in as well

If you didn't do well, it doesn't hurt in most cases. For some rareish schools, AP scores are considered when deciding when to admit an applicant. But in general they're meant to help you. I swear, please believe me. Colleges like the fact that you attempted a college course and went ahead to take the test, even though it may have been hard and expensive. 5s will probably help, if not in admissions, for credit.

They can matter at Middlebury- they consider only SAT IIs and APs, not SAT Is.

Do they even have a small impacT? yale and brown are my top choices.. and mostly all applicants are the smartest in the nation and my APs scores so far are not the kind of scores the students applying there have. I got eng.lang. 3, ushistory 4, chem 4, BC 4, AB subscore 5. These scores surely will not help my application.. so will it even hurt slightly to show them?

its doubtful taht its an integral part of the app since many high schools do not even offer them. mostly, colleges use it as a tool for measuring your school. for example, if you had a 97 in english both smesters and then you got a 1 or 2 on the AP exam, then the 97 would not mean taht much...on the flip side, a 5 on the ap exam could excuse a mid-to-high B in a class...

^yeah that's exactly how I hope they don't see it.
cuz i had a horrible day when I took my exam.
but the class is the hardest class offered.
so ... I'm not sure what they would say with a low score and an A in the class. Maybe they would think how you think, or maybe they will say the person was sick or something when they took the AP. They'd probably be more inclined to think the latter if you have a lot of 5s and 1 or 2 bad AP score(s).

I still got into some decent schools despite my 3 on the AP Lang/Comp exam. I'd say 99% of the time, AP scores are not going to keep you out of a certain school. For example, if you got a 2 on one exam but got a 95 in the class you'll still be alright...
