hey guys, i have "Advanced Placement Exam Results" on my minerva checklist. i'm taking 4 AP courses, but I'm only signed up for 3 of the actual AP exams.

will this be a problem? is declaring them optional?

thanks!!

hey! im in the same position as you (enrolled in 4 AP classes but taking 3 exams) and although im not 100% positive, i dont think it’s a problem. you should be able to chose the scores you want to send. like if you get a 1 on US history for example, you probs wont have to let mcgill know.

Hey undeuxtrois, I hope you’re right!! I’m not sure how the curve is going to work this year now that there’s no more guessing penalty on the APs…

My main concern is whether McGill expects me to complete all of my AP exams as a requirement for keeping my major scholarship. There was no condition explicitly stated on the letter, so I want to make sure. Any thoughts are welcome! :)

I saw that checklist saying they want our AP scores and got a little worried. I am taking three APs and I know I will only do well on one of them. Do you guys know if they revoke admission based on AP scores? I can’t imagine them doing that, but it does make me worry.

i’m hoping that AP exams are strictly used for credit + advanced class placement, and therefore completely optional. could someone please clarify this? thanks!

I called them about this and they said you have to send all AP scores of 4 or 5. If you have anything below that you don’t need to send it

Is the admission decision partly based on AP Exam results? I’m so scared cuz after being admitted to Life science Mcgill sent me an email requiring me to submit my AP marks and I was totally petrified. I’m likely to get 3s. are they gonna take away my offer after seeing these marks???:((((so frustrated now…

lazylee, don’t worry!! i asked a mcgill rep, who clarified the situation for me: AP exams are used strictly for credit/advanced class placement. mcgill expects you write all AP exams for the AP classes you’re taking right now; but you can simply email them (in June) and tell them you didn’t write them, etc.

so the admission decision is not based at all on your future AP exam results :)

Thanks for the clarification!!! makes me feel super duper relieved now:)!!!I hope Mcgill will provide more info on this subject as a lot of students are confused by the requirement list:D
