AP scores(urgent)

Hey folks, I was just admitted to Mcgill Life Science and on the requirement list it says "Advanced Placement Test Result". Cuz my status is currently "Admitted-Pending final result", I'm freaked out by this. Can Mcgill actually revoke my admission after they see my AP exam results which (I assume) are not good enough(probably all 3s and 2s)? Is the admission decision based partly on my AP exam results although I have already been admitted???

Please help, thanks a lot!!!!!!!!

I think the result in “pending final result” is your end of grade 12 marks from your school (i.e. that you actually graduate from grade 12).

McGill wants to know you AP results for placement purposes, I believe, and not for admission purposes.

Thanks that’s really reassuring. I’m torn between Mcgill and UT life science cuz they are both very prestigious, but not being able to speak French is definitely a drawback…:(

Why is a lack of French a drawback? Thousands of students at McGill don’t speak any French. They still fully enjoy Montreal.

Considering that my ultimate goal is to go to Med school, It does seem crucial to pick up French. Even for volunteering at hospitals one is required to speak both Fench and English. If I stay on-campus around the clock that’s fine but when I’m out there It would be disadvantageous not being able to talk to French-speaking people. A friend of mine knows someone who never ventured out off-campus during her first year at Mcgill. If I can’t master this language ASAP I will for sure miss out on a lot of job opportunities as well. sigh…

Hi Lazylee,

There was a similar discussion a few weeks ago regarding this topic - not sure if you have read it yet. If not, check it out:

Do check out Whittle’s link to the “Research Opportunities for Science Students” - you’ll see there are quite a few listed there. The SOAR link for out-of-province opportunites (e.g., Ontario) is interesting as well.

Good luck with your decision!
