ap scores

how much do these actually matter in college admissions? my friends all have differing opinions (checking for grade inflation, very important, ignored, etc), but i think the consensus is somewhere around not too importnat, but used to check for grade inflation in ap classes
for example, a 4 in apcs would not sink a prospective engineering major, or a 4 in ap lang would not hurt a prospective lib art major, given they got a's in the respective classes, right?

As long as you have a mix of 4’s and 5’s overall it will make virtually no difference. You don’t even send your score report, just whatever you have to fill out on the common app so colleges don’t focus TOO much on AP scores. The only thing I can see hurting you is a 2 or below… maybe a 3 if it’s an easier AP.

do you really not send a score report? how do colleges verify your scores then

^I suppose they don’t have a way to verify your scores. That’s probably why they aren’t considered too greatly.

They could probably call up the collegeboard to confirm your scores, but I’m sure they don’t have that much time for every applicant.

If you lie about an AP score via self-reporting, then try to take the credit for it by sending in a lessor score once you are admitted, you could have a problem with falsifying your application.
