Obviously, it's important to take all of the difficult classes your school offers (including APs), but do your scores play a huge role in admissions?

I was conveniently sick to my stomach during my junior year AP tests last week (my digestive system was acting up... but I doubt you all want to hear about my bowels), so I'm not expecting any 5s.

I got a 4 in AP US last year (teacher told us to "just mention" the documents in our DBQs, ipso facto a low DBQ score despite knowing US history well), probably will get a 4 in Euro, maybe a 5 in Lang, likely 3/4s in Micro/Macro. That being said, on my SAT IIs, I got a 750 in US History and a 780 in World History.

So, which matters more, SAT IIs or APs?

Usually, neither of them matter much. However, from what I’ve heard colleges don’t look at your AP test grades whatsoever; it’s just like your IQ, they just don’t care… AP tests are made to help you skip intro college courses, not as a tool for getting into college

from another thread…

AP Exam scores are arbitrary and mean much less in the college admission process. The scores are over generalized, and are not the most accurate portrayal of your knowledge in the subject.

I’d say SAT IIs are much more important

Well there’s no way they can hurt. They’re obviously not as important as GPA or SAT scores, but a 5 is still something to be proud of.

High achievement on the AP test shows you can handle some college level work. It’s just another thing to add to your list of academic achievements.

I screwed around on AP tests. I got 800s on all 4 SAT2s I took tho. SAT2s are more important. I would rather take the intro classes because the teachers at my school suck at teaching
