AP Spanish Listening + General Questions

Im kinda freeking out about the AP Test. Spanish has always been my best subject. I understand the grammmar quickly and rarely ever come in 2nd or below on a test in my class. However, my weakness is listening. Ive been doing the Barrons practice ones, and Ive been doing really terrible on them. Im also concerned about the speaking sections, as it is so hard for me to think quickly (especially in Spanish). How hard is it to get a 5 on the exam? Other than just listening to more Spanish, are there any verterans out there with any tips on how to do well? How many listening and reading questions do I need to get right, assuming I do average on the other sections?

How do you define average? Do you get about a 3 on every other component of the test (Informal/Formal Speaking, Informal/Formal Writing)? I generally do well on the listening and reading sections, missing on average 5 listening and 3 reading, and am in the 3-4 range for the other sections, but I can’t get out of the 4 range.

On the speaking sections, what will really increase your score is the use of idiomatic expressions and more advanced tenses such as subjunctive and perfect tenses.

As for listening, concentration is key. It’s super easy to get distracted so you really need to force yourself to focus. Skim the questions ahead of time. Unfortunately, you can’t really study for listening, but do listen to Spanish music, watch some telenovelas, and listen to Spanish talk radio in the morning for the next week if you can.

im so scared… 3 hours of spanish is alone enough to kill a man but then the months of waiting for tests scores! im seriously considering just not showing up and taking a zero :stuck_out_tongue:
but basically my advice is practice, but its a little late for that… im taking it tuesday. and, what he said, look up good phrases to use, and read over the past free responses that collegeboard releases. youll see a few topics repeat like vacation, education, etc. and find phrases that fit into those catagories. good luck!
