Hi,
I've been in Spanish for three years now (I'm a junior) in high school. I'm currently in Spanish 4, a high honors class. In 9th and 10th grade, I was in Spanish 2 honors and Spanish 3 honors (not offered at high honors). This year it isn't going too well for me. While I have an A, it's extremely difficult and I hate it. Next year, I could take AP Spanish or double up on math, which I would do with AP stats.

I'm rather torn as to which path to take. Will dropping Spanish after three years in favor of another AP class hurt my chances at top schools I'm interested in (UNC, Columbia, Duke, Williams, Haverford, UPenn, UVA, W&M, Amherst, Northeastern, BU)?

I know I want to go into media but I want to major in something other than journalism such as political science, economics, statistics, English, etc.

Here is a profile to put it in context
Ethnicity: White
Public or Private: Public
PSAT: 1990 (620 CR, 670 M, 700 W) should go up with lots of prep
Plan on taking Math 2, Bio, USH SAT II this spring
GPA (weighted) 4.3-4.4
GPA (unweighted) 3.8-3.9

APs that I will either take next year or are currently taking:
AP US History (this year)
AP Bio (this year)
Calc AB (this year)
Calc BC
AP Physics B/ AP Environmental/ AP Physics C (Undecided)
AP Gov't and Politics
AP Lit and comp
(and either stats or Spanish)

ECs:
Cross Country (3yr varsity, Sr. yr captain)
Indoor and Outdoor Track (2yr varsity, Sr. yr captain)
Sports editor of newspaper 11, possibly editor-in-chief next year
Volunteer counselor (500+ hours) 9,10 and Paid counselor 11,12
Writer for popular sports blogs (possibly a big opportunity coming soon)

How does this decision play into my resume overall? Which should I choose?

If you have any advice on which science to pick, that would be much appreciated as well.
Also, how do I look right now in terms of getting into some of my schools listed above?

Thanks!
