AP Spanish?

I will be a junior next year and I am on the fence about taking AP Spanish. I am currently in Spanish III Honors and its a pretty easy class considering it is all about memorizing grammar concepts and vocab. But I heard that AP Spanish is a lot more of reading comprehension and speaking. I really suck at speaking in Spanish and don’t know if I should take the class. I want to go into a STEM field so if I don’t take AP Spanish, then I can replace it with a science or math AP. But if i don’t take Spanish then I will only have 2 years of high school Spanish (I took Spanish I as an eighth grader). Also, I can not take Spanish 4 because there is none and Spanish 4 Honors and AP Spanish are combined classes. Please HELP!

Is there a difference in workload and grading scale for Spanish 4 Honors and AP Spanish? It seems like Spanish 4 Honors shouldn’t be too much of a jump up from Spanish 3 Honors, which is pretty easy for you, and that way you can have that 4th year of language that top schools look for.

The only difference is a grade bump in Spanish 4 Honors but I feel like if I do Spanish 4 Honors, then I might as well do AP Spanish

Which would be offset by the grade bump you would get by taking another AP course.

However, my experience with combined classes is that the workload and grading expectations do not vary between levels. It may be differ at your school, so you should ask a current student. If there is really no difference, take AP. Regardless, you should assume that you would have to speak Spanish regardless of which class it is.
