AP Stat or AP Chem?

In the 2018-2019 school year, I will be a sophomore.
As of right now, these are my final AP classes: AP Bio, AP Calc AB, AP World

I have one spot open for either AP Stats or AP Chem.
I took Chem Honors and I understand most of the material and the reason I wanted to take AP Chem to do US National Chemistry Olympiad (by getting better with the material). Along with those classes I will have many ECs but I am able to manage my time pretty well. However, I know AP Chem is incredibly hard and rigorous. I am good at math so I am sure I can handle AP Calc AB and AP Stats. So as of right now, I am completely unsure of what to do.

Would doing AP Chem and AP Bio be alright or is doing AP Stats better for the schedule I have?

Stats since you’re already taking biology.

I would take stats – unless you are a science whiz, two AP science courses is a lot.

It is also fine to take a non-AP class if another class interests you more.

I think to answer the question properly, you should lay out what you’ve taken, what you plan on taking for the next 3 years, and what is available.

Your 3 main Lab APs, AP Bio, AP Chem and AP Physics C, should ideally be taken in different years. It may be important to have the prerequisites for these classes lined up properly as well.

AP Stats is a somewhat easier class that people take sometimes when they are out of math classes to take. I would want to see what other choices you might have and go from there.

Also are you at one of those schools that forces you to take both AP Calc AB and BC in separate years?

9: AP Human, Orchestra, English 1H, Bio 1H, Pre-Calc, Spanish 2, Digital Info Tech and Chem 1H online as well.
10: AP World, Orchestra, English 2H, AP Bio, AP Calc AB, Spanish 3H, and AP Stats or AP Chem
11: APUSH, Orchestra, AP Lang, AP Physics 1, AP Spanish, AP Calc BC, and AP Chem if not last year or APES
12: AP Gov/Economics, Orchestra, AP Lit, AP Physics C, Calc 3, AP Comparative/AP Micro, AP Art History

I have one elective space that is available and there are many courses that are available but I wanted to double either my maths or my sciences (with an AP I think I would enjoy). My school doesn’t require us to take both AB and BC together but most students take them separately. I am not trying to pad up my APs but I genuinely love a challenge at school and our honors courses don’t really do that. Also, I am in a program so it is required I take the social studies courses. I know I also have an option of taking any AP I want online so I can have other courses I am interested in on my schedule.

Neither.
I would only take one Lab Science and 1 math course at a time. You don’t need AP Stats.

At our school district, which is widely regarded as tops in the state, op would be fully three years ahead in math, and 2 to 3 years ahead in science. Well done!

Yeah I would leave AP Chem as 11th grade and maybe move your AP Comparative/Micro up instead or maybe even something like AP Music Theory. It would be a bit weird to take both MacroEcon and MicroEcon at exactly the same time. If you want to take Stats you should take it in CC or online. I don’t particularly like that one semester’s worth of material is covered in one year and it is Algebra-based and not calculus based.
