Hi everyone! I’m currently a sophomore and I’m having a hard decision choosing my AP classes next year!
Please give me some suggestion~
Im choosing between AP chem and AP Stats…Some people told me that AP stats is super easy and some said that it’s super hard (mainly cuz r teacher doesn’t know how to teach? is it really hard if I self study?) I have chemistry this year and my average is an A-…and it’s actually pretty hard for me to maintain A-? I tired really hard and spent nights of studying to get an A- term grade…so I’m also wondering if it’ll be very hard for me to take AP chem next year…even tho our teacher said that it’s just A BIT harder than what we learnt this year…
I want to major in Nursing and I did some research…most of the websites said that Ap Stats is really important but on college board it didn’t list out Ap stats as an option. People told me that AP chem and stats r both really important and they said that I can take chem during my senior year…but I want to take AP Psychology (heard that it’s also really important for nursing?)
Please give me some advice! I need to choose between AP chem and AP stats~
Thank you so much~
Your teachers know better than we do how hard it will be for a student with your background to do well in a given class.
What does the rest of your course schedule look like?
I would think about neither of those…
Generally an honors type student would take Honors Bio, Honors Chem, HOnors/AP Physics 1 and then an AP version of one of those. Why take AP Chem as a sophomore? It is a college level class and known to be difficult.
I would suggest Honors Chem.
AP Stat? Worry more about Alg1/Geometry/Alg2/Precalc/Calc sequence than AP Stat.
What’s your current schedule and what would your Junior schedule be like without either AP?
My daughter felt AP stats was very easy. AP chem, super demanding. The amount of time and effort were night and day different. Obviously teachers impact that as well.
I don’t live in the states and Im from an International school in Asia…so r system might be a bit different from other ppl
For 10th grade…we can only take AP Bio, AP ES, Ap Human Geo, APCS, WHAP…and we have math and chem class everyday…For math(algerbra 2) and English there’s Honors and Regulars
For 11th…we can take AP Psych, AP Chem, AP stats, AP Econ, and everything else from 10th grade…we can choose to be in regular of AP Physics…and regular or honors math (calculus I think?) AP Lit or just regular English class
for 12th…we can take AP Calculus…and not sure with the new choices? You can take any other AP courses too…and I’m not really sure with the senior choices…
If ur not gonna take AP, than you will have class with middle school like Drama…Robotics…etc
My advice:
For junior year take AP Psych, Precalculus Honors, US History Honors (if availble, if not “History”), AP Bio, AP Human Geo or AP World, regular Physics, regular English.
For senior year take Ap English Language, AP Chem, AP Stats, AP Econ or AP world or AP Euro, Anatomy&Physiology Honors, other class.
