***AP Statistics Thread 2015-2016***

Does anybody know if second semester is considered easier than the first? For my class, we did analyzing patterns in histograms/scatterplots/box plots etc, producing data using observational studied and experiments, probability (including binomial/geometric) and simulation. Next semester is sampling distributions, significance tests, chi-square procedures and inference for regression. If any of you have done what I’ll do during the Spring, please tell me your impressions of the subject matter’s difficulty.

Our last quest (quiz + test) was on binomial/geometric, and the one before that was on probability. We also had a midterm exam the week before break too. My teacher wants to give us a test covering binomial&geometric/probability/expected values after break ;(

@ambitionsquared Based off of my course syllabus pretty much all of my second semester is going to be confidence testing.

I’m so glad I took Precalc this year as well…

Just got back the results of my second midterm. Guess who went from a C- to an A? :)) However, my actual grade is still at a B+, so this third midterm on sampling distributions will make or break my GPA.

I got the AP Stat Barron’s book over break…I just took my probability test and holy fudge-nuggets the book is a thing of beauty (or maybe because my teacher pales by comparison/is ramble-y, and our textbook is similar to my teacher). If your teacher isn’t the greatest, get the book.

I have Barron’s 7th Edition and I highly recommend it for a review book. Plus, it’s always good to read something from another perspective or a different phrasing to truly grasp the concept itself. Check out Quizlet and Youtube for review stuff, there’s a wealth of information there.

The test is less than a month away, and I’m wondering if Barron’s 7th Edition is the only book needed for the exam. My teacher has taught the course pretty well, so I can go for a shorter book if it’s better. Also wondering where everyone else is in the course. We’re staring Chi-Squared statistics next week, and I believe that Linear Regression confidence intervals is after that.

Your teacher better hurry up and start reviewing!

I got a 5 on the 2014 International Practice Exam, so I’m feeling pretty good about this test. I need to review FRQs though.

@JuicyMango Do you know where I can find the 2014 practice exam? Or was it provided by your teacher? Thank you!

@specialsnowflake It was provided by my teacher. But other practice exams like 2002 or 2008 should suffice.

@JuicyMango Okay, thanks!

Does anyone know how generous the curve is? I’m freaking out about this test the most, even if it is the last one in taking

@Mjain10 On average, about 60-70% should give you a 5. Of course, it depends on the test itself.

@lightblaze259 makes me feel better about it…took AP Stats in the fall semester so I have to review all that information :frowning:

took ap calculus ab exam 2 days ago. Lets hope i passed. Its time to study for stats. Guys if anyone knows any good videos i could watch to practice stats please let me know.

Students out there,

I was telling my students to look over on how the various ways to do a 2 sample t test or any of the Chi-Square Tests. I have a feeling that one/both could be on the FR this year. Also, easy question on FR, something with Sampling/Experimental Design. Just my two cents! Good luck studying.

Do you guys know what happens if you check conditions that you do not need to check for? :confused: Will I lose points?

What conditions need to be checked for a 2 Sample Z test?

@JuicyMango
SRS
people and group independent
np1 and np2 and nq1 and nq2 are all greater than 10
groups are < 10% population
I think this is it. let me know if i forgot anything

Also, how do I know whether to use z test or chi squared test. both are for qualitative subjects, but idk when to use which
