Hi!
Around what percent on the multiple choice will give someone a 5 on the exam (assuming you don't screw up the short response), and to get a 4?
Thanks!

If you get 41 to 50 weighted on the multiple choice, weighted being (#/40 right)-(1/4 X number wrong) X 1.25, then your chance of receiving a 5 is 92.8%.

lol sounds good

You'll need around 68 (out of 100) to get a 5 and around 52 to get a 4.

raw score of 35 or above on MC (of 50) is a 5 for that part

yay I feel better now thanks!

Are the graders very picky about the FR. If we leave off part of say, an assumption for a hypothesis test, will they count the entire part wrong?

Nope. If you just leave off one assumption, you can still get all your points right.

Ok, thanks. So if we say a one-sample z-test instead of a one-sample t-test, will we get points off for that?

um. yeah. that would be completely wrong.

One is about mean (t), the other is about proportions (z), right?

no. a z-test is used when the standard deviation of a population is known. a t-test is used when the standard deviation of the population is unknown and calculates the sample standard deviation (s/square-root of n) for usage (with n-1 degrees of freedom).

z-tests, however, can be used for proportions. my book called these p-tests, but they operated on pretty much the same principles (table A, etc.)

hey does anyone know what sections are you allowed to have the formula sheet? and can you use a calculator during the entire test?

Yes, can you use the formula sheet on the multiple choice?

Would make sense that one is able to use the calculator during the entire duration of the test?
My teacher never mentioned when we cannot use the formula sheet and/or the calculator.

I thought you got to use everything for every portion of the test.

that's what I think too, just want to make sure though

you can use your formula sheet & calculator FOR THE ENTIRE TEST.

they also dont check ur memory, but they said that you are allowed to have programs that do that work, just no notes
