Will AP Studio Art be of any value if applying to the sciences program? The reason to consider this course is because of an interest in drawing/art. Would it be better to take an AP Physics course instead?

Thanks.

If you are taking AP Art, you can make an art supplement to the colleges you want to apply. I’m currently taking AP Art and Calc-based Physics right now. If you are committed in spending hours doing art, you should. Physics requires a lot of work too, at least for my class.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have heard that colleges do not consider art/drawing courses when computing the overall GPA. So is there any “value” of putting in all these hours on an AP Art course (other than personal interest)- would a science/math-related course be better? Would colleges give sufficient weightage to this demanding course, or simply write it off as an easy course? Just to be specific, if applying to Biological Sciences major at a college, how would sending them an art portfolio help?

AP art is probably of little value, outside of personal interest, if you’re applying as a science student. D too AP studio art, but she was interested in an art related major.
