I'm going to be a sophomore. I haven't taken a high school chemistry course. And I was thinking about taking AP Chemistry in tenth grade. Self study of course. I'm taking the exam for college credit. Does anyone think I should go along with the "Taking AP Chem in tenth grade without any high school chem" plan? I'm using Zumdahl's Chem book btw.

I am completely against it. You are only a sophmore, and such you have 2-3 years to self-study for that AP Chemistry test. I recommend taking a chemistry class though (at least AP Chemistry) for the lab experience. Yes, it okay to take the test to go for college credit, but you have plenty of time to do so.

So, in short, my recommendations are to either take 1-2 years of Chemistry, or self-study for the test for at least 2 years. Either way will make you prepared for that exam.

If you can do it all in a year, props to you though, but that is just my two cents.

Actually I’ve done half a year of basic chem in physical science during my freshman year. I’ve also self studies some Chem concepts that were not taught in physical science such as the mole concept, Biochem, organic chem, quantum chem, and some stoichiometry. however i will think about your answer darksaber21
