AP summer reading list

hey, we had one of these threads before, but i was wondering if you guys can just post again

i am reading for AP english
Brave new world
1984
crime and punishment
things fall apart
hamlet
heart of darkness
hard times

bump, can you guys please post your reading list again?

Oh, just finished Brave new world... not too bad, predicted the ending though...

I am reading for AP Lit:
The Awakening (already read actually)
The Return of the Native
Wuthering Heights (already read that too)

And on my own (for AP):
Oedipus
Heart of Darkness
maybe Crime & Punishment or 1984

Who wrote Things Fall Apart?

what! you predicted the ending? that hit me out of the blues, i'd never think he would do that... i was very dissappointed, if i wasn't mistaken, he engaged in the orgy and then committed suicide right?
how can you see that coming!

oh Oedipus is okay, not great though, talks about Aristotelean tragedy. the story didn't seem believable in Oedipus Rex

This is my AP Lit reading list:
Interpreter of Maladies - Jhumpa Lahiri (collection of short stories)
Art of Fiction - David Lodge (collection of essays)
A Poetry Handbook - Mary Oliver (I think the title is pretty much self-explanatory..)

yeah newbyreborn. i actually predicted it. i enjoyed the book a lot, but i was kind of like... i need to stop doing this lol.

ha ha, i found the book a little weird and some parts didn't make sense... i mean how did they get rid off HIV? and all the other diseases?
anyway

others, please post your AP reading list, i am interested in reading a little more :)

Siddhartha and 100 Years of Solitude

For AP English
A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
Homer's Odyssey
The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
I am not actually required to read them ahead of time, but the teacher sent us a little note at the end of the year stating that we would probably find it advantageous to be somewhat familiar with the books before the start of the class for time-management reasons.

English Lit AP:
My Name is Asher Lev
Pride and Prejudice
Song of Solomon

we're also recommended to read the Synoptic Gospels from the NT and Genesis and Exodus from OT

tawny... Things Fall Apart is by Chinwa Echebe or something like that.

he engaged in an orgy before killing himself? I just thought he attacked Lenina

no, no, jman1211, i am pretty sure he joined the orgy and then killed himself, but before that, he tried using arrows to attack everyone.

yep orgy - then suicide.

oh, wow, i just reread it, John is a bad boy. How did the soma get into him? haha, sorry for making this a Brave New World discussion
